CounterPath X-Lite and Bria

CounterPath Corporation provide a range of compatible softphones that are supported on the Voxhub service.

  • X-Lite - A free to use softphone with basic calling features.
  • Bria - Advanced softphone with integrated messaging and video conferencing.

Customers have the choice of which softphone best suits them. For occasional use X-Lite will work well but Bria has additional features such as call transfer that is often required when used regularly.

The standard version of Bria includes instant messaging that works well with the Voxhub messaging service.

Bria is also available for the iPhone and Android based mobiles. These can be very convenient if you only occasionally need to work outside the office and you have access to a Wifi connection.

A special version of Bria can also run as a plugin for Microsoft Outlook. This enables the softphone to be tightly integrated within Outlook and to have access to the contacts to simply click and place a call.

The general opinion regarding software phones are that they are not a cheap alternative to a dedicated hardware phone but that they are an indispensible tool for flexible working.
